EMDR THERAPY

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy developed specifically to treat symptoms created by trauma.

However, it’s not used to only treat trauma.

In addition to trauma, EMDR has been used to effectively treat a wide range of problems stemming from adverse life experiences including anxiety and panic attacks, sleep problems, chronic pain, and complicated grief. EMDR therapy is a type of brain- and body-based psychotherapy that helps a person see stressful events in a new and less distressing way. EMDR therapy is found to be an effective treatment for decreasing and eliminating the psychological distress associated with living with a chronic medical condition and following a health crisis. Whether you have received a life-altering medical diagnosis, experienced a medical emergency or invasive medical procedure, struggling with infertility, or had a traumatic birth experience, EMDR therapy is found to effectively treat both the psychological and physical symptoms deriving from health related- and medical traumatic experiences.

EMDR therapy is not traditional “talk therapy”, and is found to produce more rapid results compared to "talk therapy" alone.
